The sustainability journey

Finding the best solutions for the future takes time, which is why we believe we are on a journey. The carrier journey, if you will. Like many other things, this journey takes time, and not all solutions have yet been found. That is why we work with people who do everything they can with today's knowledge. 3StepIT is one of them.

Together with 3StepIT, we recycle the equipment that our customers no longer need and that has completed its life cycle. Most IT equipment manufactured today is not designed to last 20+ years. Maybe with the exception of Nokia, but that's a completely different BLOG story. Therefore, recycling, redistribution and even equipment that can become part PCs are incredibly important in our history.

We have collaborated with 3StepIT for over 10 years. Since 2012, we have worked closely together to ensure that our equipment can be used for useful things after they leave our customers. The goal is for the IT equipment to live on in a greener way. It doesn't mean that every step is perfect, but as I said, we are on a journey. And we are lucky to have talented collaborators on the team.

What actually happens to the equipment?

Through this collaboration, we contribute to a circular use and reuse model. This means that the IT products that are obsolete in a professional context can have their life cycle extended with a little help. The aim is that a lot will get a new owner who can use the equipment for a few more years or that the equipment is reused in parts and thus can save other equipment from ending up in the waste.

3StepIT ensures that IT equipment does not disappear into the landfill before it has lived as long as it can. Together, we want to reduce both waste and contamination of the equipment. And if there is unfortunately waste, then we know that it is handled correctly as EE waste. So when you use equipment from us or through our partner, Lenovo, you can be sure that we are working to make the life cycle of the equipment greener.

Incidentally, we are ISO-certified in several areas, including the environment. Read more about our certifications here.

Services that can keep consumption down

We have also chosen to take some measures to reduce consumption even before people buy equipment. That is why we have the Device as a Service service. You, as a new employee or businesses that have a variable workforce, should not have to buy new PCs for every change in need. By renting from us, you do not need to buy new equipment. The service is based on the fact that you can rent as many PCs as you need and if the need suddenly decreases again, you simply scale down the rental agreement. That way, the PC you don't need can be recycled. Of course after we have washed the equipment, cleaned it of data and made it as good as new. Easily!

Another advantage of this service is that many companies have received reduced costs related to their equipment. Nor do they have to maintain it themselves. We will arrange that Braathe. We always want to do more on our sustainability journey and we are learning as we go. Read more about other measures we have introduced for sustainability, on our page about this: Sustainable IT

What can you do?

There is a lot you can do - and the most important thing to start with is to accept that no one becomes sustainable overnight. Becoming sustainable takes time. Your people must be involved in the process. The journey is also never over and we cannot put aside the job of preserving the planet for future generations, we will only try together to work smarter towards the goal.

We recommend you get inspiration from others, read up on the topic, perhaps get certified as we have done or ask your employees. They are probably sitting on a lot of cool ideas! If you want some inspiration before you make your next IT purchases, we would like to recommend ours professional seminar in Oslo or digitally on 29 November. There, we deal with both safety and sustainability. Because yes, the two also have a connection. A cyber attack can create a big one setbacks in sustainability work. The seminar will prepare you before you enter the new year!
