The actual interest in information technology and our basic competence came through experience gained after investing in and using our own equipment already in the early 80s.

Started as a hobby
Braathe Gruppen was first established as a hobby while still in school studying, but with very few players and little competition in a growing market, we saw an opportunity. We wanted to assist companies in using advanced technology in an efficient, stable and secure way. Today it has become our vision and we call it "worry-free IT".

Several family members were eventually engaged on both the operating side and the owner side and in 1998 Randi and Willy transferred Braathe the family farm Nærum, which has followed the family since the mid-1700th century, to the company. The settlement was made in shares which they still own. Today is Ole Braathe 9th generation owner of the family farm through the companies.

The farm that became server farm
We have used the building stock and the property for office development and a high-tech data center. Green IT has long been the focus, and in order to operate energy efficiently we have buried 15 kilometers of cooling loops under the soil on the property. The "farm", though with fields still being farmed traditionally, has evolved into a high-tech "server farm". The old barn on the farm is now completely converted into a state-of-the-art technology barn where about half of our employees are seated, and more than 10.000 users and 3.000 servers are continuously provided for and hosted.

Our head office remains here at Nærum gård, but we have also expanded with offices in the Northern region and several locations in Eastern Norway, and now have more than 100 dedicated employees. On a daily basis, we focus on how our services can be continuously improved and make the users' everyday IT life as worry-free as possible. In 2019, we have one goal of turning over 250 million and taking an even stronger position as one of the leaders in cloud services for Norwegian businesses.
