Safety in the driver's seat

We have written that 2022 is the year to put safety in the driver's seat many times. And we know that many people have taken their routines seriously. Unfortunately, we also see many companies that do not have the capacity to train employees or introduce other security measures in the company.

Throughout the pandemic, we saw a sharp increase in attempted hacking and attacks. Some were successful too. It was costly and we have seen the aftermath of successful attacks. After the war broke out in Ukraine, attacks have increased to an even greater extent. Several players have been affected. Websites have been down and unavailable.

Those who do this are people or organizations who want to put us out of business. So how to put safety in the driver's seat? Let's first clarify what we mean by the word security.

What do we mean by security?

The word security can be used for many things. In our context, we are talking about technological security. Safety measures are introduced to prevent and avoid dangerous incidents. We will remove the fear that everything will go wrong. Our wish is for you to be in a state where you neither experience a high pulse nor sweaty hands.

Where do you start?

The very first thing you should do is take a risk analysis. Where are your gaps and what needs to be prioritized? This is one of the first things we will address if you want our help. Our experience is that many do not have the knowledge of the services they use other than how to use them for their work tasks. Therefore, there may be many unknown gaps in the company.

What needs to be prioritized is, if possible, simpler to answer. What is vital to your business in the event of an attack? Could it be the intranet, the production system or something in the cloud? We work with companies in all kinds of industries and know very well that what is vital in one company need not be so in another.

And then there's your information. Most likely the most valuable thing you have. Then the questions are many. Where is the information stored, how is security from before and who has access to the information? We hope you get an overview of that.

Bring your people with you

Get your people involved in all parts of this process. You won't regret it. The people internally are crucial for the security to be satisfactory. Together with you, we can test, code and arrange the digital solutions as much as we want. But if your employees do not know about potential dangers and which traps to avoid, then it may be in vain.

According to our statistics, 90% of all attacks are due to human error. It's staggering sums. Therefore, we choose to focus even more on users in the future. You will notice that both here on the BLOG and elsewhere Braathe. We want all employees to feel trygge in the workplace, both physically and digitally. And we want the percentages to go down. It requires that they get a good foundation in the face of unknown threats.

We hope you are a bit tryggere on your first steps towards a lower heart rate. Security holes and human accidents are, after all, the biggest threat companies face in 2022. Let us know if you want some help with your security. We are ready with both analysis tools, penetration tests and training. Have a great week!
