Straight on Braathe- the train

We are talking to Ane Aasen Tømmerås at Teams. She smiles widely through the screen. Today, due to many meetings, she chose the home office in Fredrikstad. A city she hadn't thought she would live in in the first place.

- It was a bit of a coincidence that made me move here. One of them was love, and then the job Braathe a wonderful bonus, she says with a sly smile.

We think love is a good reason to move. That it would be Østfold was a big bonus for us too, because then Ane could start Braathe-our farm at Rygge. There she sits in the basement with several other IT people.

Despite his first working days in the middle of the pandemic, fortunately there has been more time in the office since the start. Ane has also managed to hang out at our Support department for a few weeks. She will further develop our internal systems. A very important job!

From the books to practice

Ane has now almost had a year in the job, and there have been many surprises. Because what you read in the books at school does not always resemble practice in working life. We can sign it ourselves. For the young developer, the transition has been both fun and unusual.

- I probably felt it a little when it was the thickest of the pandemic, but Braathe are good at the digital conversations, so it has gone better than I had thought.

Her bachelor's, which was taken at UiO, is called Programming and system architecture, and deals precisely with programming and system architecture. In other words, a very up-to-date education. During the course of study, Ane was able to test real cases and had several problems that she recognises Braathe.

She has become accustomed to teamwork, daily meeting points and new things that come up. At the same time, she knows what the big lines will mean for us going forward.

- We must constantly improve. I want to contribute to that. Both to make processes more efficient, but also more user-friendly. So it's important to go into projects with your eyes open. You must also always obtain other perspectives. Then it is often advantageous to have people who do not work with IT at all.

That's why she wanted to hang out in the support department for a while. She wanted to see how internal systems are actually used. There she learned a lot that is taken into account in the project.

Braathe + Ane = <3

When we ask Ane how she thinks the experience has been, only good words are said.

- I have been received so well. From the start, everyone has been so nice and interested in who I am. It means a lot when you are going to start your first job after finishing your studies.

Ane highlights the expertise people have as the most exciting thing about it Braathe.

- Here I am sitting with the experts, with the core of the IT universe. There are people here who have worked with IT since long before I was born. There is so much knowledge in the walls that I hope to learn from in the long run. I've already learned a lot and I can't wait to further develop myself as well as the projects I work on.

We are so glad we got hold of you, Ane! You are a real pleasure to work with and we look forward to seeing the magic you can do with our internal systems.
