Say hello to Kim-André

In the beautiful city of Harstad, with offices facing the harbour, sits Kim André Flygel. He is young and promising, the family's IT manager and employed by us as a system developer. His No. 1 task is simple, but at the same time so difficult. He will make our people's day easier.

It involves simplification, improvement and change. Preferably in a positive direction every single time. Such a job is demanding. At the same time that Kim-André will implement changes for the better, you, the user, will also be left with the experience that this was actually what you needed.

The system developer himself is committed and at the same time realistic when he talks about it:

- I have experienced that often several small changes are needed to make everyday working life easier. The big ones are often too big. After all, we must have our people to join the load along the way. If not, it will be counterproductive to do it here.

He is absolutely right. Small improvements introduced gradually are easy to swallow. So it must be said that big changes, done right, can lead to fantastic results. We always recommend spending a lot of time on training when it comes to IT. Most people have such different foundations in both physical and digital IT tools from before. If you want to learn a bit more about our processes and user adoption, you can see here.

IT through several generations

In the attempt to get to know Kim-André better, a lot of interesting information turns up. His father has worked in the old iTet. They were acquired by us in 2021. So it's not just Kim-André with an IT interest in the family.

Via iTet and other Harstadværingers, Kim-André became aware of us. And when the summer of 2022 came, he was in place at our offices. The start was quiet and in the middle of the summer holidays. It turned out to pay off, so he managed to get a good overview before a busy autumn started.

How is your experience with us so far?

- There are incredibly wonderful people here in Harstad. I have been welcomed very well and I already feel like I belong to the gang. In the past, I have worked in a place where there were a lot of us, and that means that the social life stops a little across departments. It really doesn't here Braathe!

What is the biggest difference from us and previous employers?

- In the past, I have experienced that I have become a small piece in a big project, whereas here I get to be a big piece. It's incredibly rewarding and it does something to your motivation. In addition, there is a good spread in the tasks you take on. This means that we get key roles from start to finish in projects.

Our system developers have several exciting projects, and what they work on varies. Here you can read more about the services we offer in which consultants are involved.

The family's IT guy

A regular occurrence with us is that our people are often called by family when IT things fail. This is also true in Kim-André's case. So then we have to ask: Has the interest in IT always been there?

- Yes, it has. And in general, I've always liked digging into a problem where you have to work a bit to find the answer. So I fit perfectly into the IT world, you could say.

As a system developer, problem solving is a large part of the job. You must be able to uncover the needs people have, why the software does not satisfy today and how it can do so. The projects can therefore be both long and complicated. Kim-André likes it:

- I'm screwed in such a way that if we get it done, it's very nice. And if it doesn't work, there's no problem asking a colleague. That's why it's so nice to know the colleagues as well as we do here. The path to the answer may be shorter.

Kim-André's department has eight people spread over several different locations. There are three of them based in Harstad. Going forward, we will get to know the department called Digital Development even better.

Thanks for the nice chat, Kim-André!
