How to create a good safety culture?

To begin with, it is important that the management of the company is aware of what safety culture is and how to secure their workplace in the event of a situation. The managers are responsible for ensuring the information security of the company and must therefore be updated with the latest knowledge and prove to be a good example to the employees. By being a good example and clear on how you want the safety culture to be in your business, your employees will take care of your good behavior. Difi has developed an e-learning course in information security for managers that is accessible to all.

A good safety training will create a good safety culture. Without the necessary knowledge, awareness and training, employees will not be able to make the right choices in their everyday work. Furthermore, it is important to follow up the employees so that they keep the knowledge up to date.

Learn from others

Many do not learn from the stories of others, and rather think "this does not happen to us". It is important to learn from events that arise and stories that are shared. Take the time to learn, set up good routines and pass on knowledge to the employees. Many of those who have experienced a security incident have said afterwards that they would like the priority security before the incident occurred. You may also want to share your experiences. It can often hurt to share after a security breach, but it can help other companies understand the consequences of a bad security culture. The attack on Hydro is a good source to point out.
