In 2001, DSL technology with broadband over existing telephone lines, i.e. copper, was entering the Norwegian market at full speed. At that time, together with our subcontractor Catch Communication, later known as Ventelo, we won a 6-year framework agreement with Nordland County Municipality that was put out to tender.

The delivery was to be cost-effective xDSL lines as a replacement for leased lines and radio lines to the 150 locations the county council was responsible for. As a consequence of this, the county ensured with its development agreements that broadband was also extended to businesses and private individuals in rural and urban areas, from south to north throughout Nordland county.

In 2021 converted Braathe and subcontractor Altibox the very last location from copper to fibre, when the public dental health service, Konsvikosen, located in Rødøy municipality secured high-speed broadband for the village.

Braathe has, through four tender periods and 22 successful contract years, delivered high-speed broadband networks and related services to Nordland County Municipality's 123 locations in the long county. Over the years, it has become even more important to have secure data communication services and a good self-service portal for the county council. As a customer and public administrator, they naturally set strict quality requirements for both broadband networks, us as a service provider and their network owner Altibox.
